REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

Climate change and environmental threats are impacting farmers and communities. This places farmer livelihoods at risk and jeopardises access to quality food. We’ve embarked on a journey toward regeneration; to help protect, renew and restore the environment, improve the livelihoods of farmers and enhance the resilience and well-being of communities and our consumers. Taking a farmer-centric approach, we are piloting and scaling new technologies and nature-based solutions to tackle this challenge. This has enabled us to reach 4M tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) reductions.

PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS

More and more people are choosing to adopt a ‘flexitarian’ diet that is both healthier and better for the planet. As global demand for plant-based food rises and people embrace making plant-based meals, we’re prepared to meet the challenge. We are transforming our portfolio to include more plant-based meat and dairy alternatives that are both healthy and delicious. Meatless meals can offer taste, nutrition, and value, so enjoying delicious foods doesn’t carry detrimental environmental impacts. This reduces emissions across the value chain, driving us towards a more sustainable food system.

PACKAGING & CIRCULARITY

The planet’s water, soil and carbon storage are intrinsically linked, and critical for the sustainability of food systems. For Nestlé, interconnected thinking also means that we are working hard to make sure our research and development (R&D), sourcing, product packaging, logistics and consumer offering have a positive impact on the world we live in today: a world which urgently needs decarbonization for its survival, as well as social equity and opportunity through diversity and inclusion. We are changing the way we think about the value chain from a linear path to a circular one. By advanced packaging R&D and key partnerships, we are working towards our commitment for all of our packaging to be recyclable or reusable by 2025.

AFFORDABLE & NUTRITION

Creating a fair, global food system means making sure that everyone, everywhere can access nutritious, sustainably produced food. In a world where one-third of all people are affected by some form of malnutrition, and where COVID-19 and climate change have exacerbated poverty, Nestlé is passionate about making better nutrition accessible while inspiring people to explore and enjoy food that supports their health. We leverage our R&D expertise to develop food innovations that cost less without sacrificing nutrition or taste, so that lower-income families can afford to nourish themselves.
